Hursley Retirees Club - October 2024

October 2024 Events:

Details of additional trips will be added when confirmed.

16th October 2024 (Wednesday)

Visit to the Portsmouth D-Day Museum

Meet outside the museum at 10 am, to go in at about 10:15

This is a Self-drive trip - there is car parking along the promenade beside the museum.

2024 is the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.  The museum tells the story of D-Day with over 10,000 items...the largest of which is the last surviving Tank Landing Craft (LCT 7074) which contains Sherman and Churchill tanks.

Among the exhibits inside the museum is the 83 metre, Overlord Embroidery consisting of 34 hand-stitched panels which took five years to create by the Royal School of Embroidery.  A free, self-guided audio tour is available with your own mobile phone - separate headphones are suggested.

The committee decided to let members pay the Museum direct, as Eventbrite fees would have eaten up more than the group discount.

Richard Hodgkinson has arranged with the Museum that you will get the Senior Group discount at the door if you tell them you are in our group.  Richard will give them a list of everyone who has signed up.

If you are a disabled senior, the price is lower, and there is a 40% discount at the door for holders of a Portsmouth Leisure card.

Although you don't have to pay the Club, we would still like you to register on this link so we know who to expect,
