IBM Hursley Retirees Club - August


August 2018 Events:

August 1st (Wednesday) - Cotswolds Mystery Tour.

Depart Hursley - 9:00am.

Depart Cotswolds - 5:00pm (approx.)

“Limited numbers” trip - Two coaches - First come, first served!

August 4th (Saturday) - Evening visit to the 100th Battle Proms Picnic Concert at Highclere Castle.

Own transport to Highclere Castle - Gates open 4:00pm.

Concert finishes 10:00pm (approx.)

There is no coach provided for this trip so members will need to use their own transport (Postcode: RG20 9LE).  The trip cost is for an entrance ticket to see the evening events and these tickets will be posted to you in the SSSAE you provided.  The venue gates open at 4.00pm allowing time for you to find a location for your picnic, chairs, etc., which you have brought with you.

  • 5:45pm - The concert begins with a WWI Cavalry display
  • 6:20pm - The Red Devils
  • 6:35pm - The Vignettes singers
  • 7:25pm - The Evening Gun Salute heralds commencement of musical programme and arrival of Spitfire
  • 7:30-10pm - The Musical Programme
  • 10:00pm (approx) - Concert finishes

If you are a member of an IBM Club or IBM Retiree Club you may request an application form for this visit by sending an e-mail to: forms@hurrec.org.uk.  Please include your name, IBM Employee Number and the name of the IBM Club that you are registered with.  An e-mail will be returned to you with a PDF version of the application form attached.  You will need to print and complete this as required, and then post with cheque and SAE to Beth Roberts.


August 21st (Tuesday) - Visit to the Kempton Park Races with Panoramic Restaurant Lunch.

Depart Hursley - 10:00am.

Depart Kempton Park - 5:30pm (approx.) - after the last race.

“Limited numbers” trip - One coach - First come, first served!  Notification of success or failure will be returned in your SAE.

The Panoramic Restaurant is set over three tiers on the top floor of the Grandstand, and is completely glass fronted.  Every table offers unrivalled panoramic views of the racecourse and the finishing straight.  The tables are yours for the duration of the racing.  There is disabled access from the ground floor using a small lift.  Steps within the restaurant are less challenging than those to get on the coach.

August 25th (Saturday) - The Winter's Tale - IBM Hursley Club

The Festival Players Theatre Company will be performing The Winter's Tale in the grounds of the Hursley Clubhouse at 7:00pm.
