IBM Hursley Retirees Club - December

December 2020 Events:

An Alternative to Outings

The committee have been considering options that would allow us to provide enjoyment for its members during these difficult times.  We are also very aware that almost all our members fall at least into the ‘Vulnerable Category’ with many in the ‘Shielding Category’.  Coach outings have been ruled out until we are sure that it is safe to offer such trips.

Similarly, with theatre events, should these become available we will look at what options we can offer our members.

Many of us have been keeping in touch with our loved ones, and with activities that we are involved with, through video conferencing in one form or other.  The committee looked at options available, and we plan to offer Zoom sessions when we can find appropriate topics and speakers.  Where the speaker fee is low enough, the Club will pay the cost, and members will not have to pay.  Of course, you really only need one ‘ticket’ per household;  remember the days when we used to crowd around a 9” B&W TV that weighed nearly a hundredweight!

Our first offering is below. If you want to participate but have never used ZOOM, We will be offering a ZOOM Education/Tester session, just send an email to Merv at
